Automatic Number Place Generator Version 2.0
Game Board
Version 2.0 supports a variety of game boards designs.
Cursor
- The current cursor position will be displayed with a red square.
- Move the cursor by clicking the desired square or moving with the arrow keys.
- If you move the cursor past the edge of the board with the arrow keys, it will reappear on the opposite edge of the board.
Hint Squares (Blue Squares)
- Hint squares indicate the location where numbers will be placed when you generate a puzzle.
- The generator will indicate the number of hint squares used in the left-upper area marked "Hint:"
- In Set mode, you may toggle whether a square is a hint square or not by either right clicking the square or pressing the "h" key. Toggling is not possible in modes other than Set mode.
- The generator may take an abnormally long time or be unable to generate a puzzle in the event that too few hint squares have been placed. Please note that some combinations of hint squares may not generate a puzzle due to the rules of Number Place.
Bold Lines
- Bold lines indicate the boundaries on the game board. Version 2.0 now supports arbitrary, non-square shapes. Place boundaries in Set mode.
Numbers
- Press a number key to input that number into the currently selected square. This includes numbers larger than one decimal place. You may also raise and lower the number via your mousewheel.
- Press the 0 (zero) key or space bar to clear the currently selected square.
- In Play mode, hint squares (those that begin with numbers in them) will not react to input.
Hint Entry
You may use a variety of methods in addition to hint squares to design your puzzles.
Hint Square Numbers
- Enter a number into a hint square in Set mode to include that number in the puzzle.
Numbers in White Squares
- If you have entered a number into a white square in Set mode, the generator will generate a puzzle using that number in the specified location. The puzzle will not initially display the number, but will display the number in the correct location once solved.
- Since the numbers will be revealed on completion of the puzzle, you can use this function to design puzzles that solve into interesting numerical patterns.
