Automatic Puzzle Generator: Number Place(Sudoku)
generating 1 question in 0.05 seconds

Shinjuku, Japan—Time Intermedia Corporation (CEO: Takayuki Sato, Capital: 123 million yen) has planned and applied for a patent (No. 2007-197610) to the company’s highly efficient variable puzzle generation algorithm. The Automatic Puzzle Generator program, which uses this algorithm, has the characteristics of speed, quality, and space efficiency.

Time Intermedia Co. have already initiated negotiations with game companies regarding the use of the Automatic Puzzle Generator, which is capable of generating 1 question in 0.05 seconds under standard conditions (24 hints). Even 18-hint puzzles, creation of which will vex the most experienced human puzzle authors, can be generated at a speed of nearly 1 per minute. Aside from its speed and efficiency, the Automatic Puzzle Generator program is compact—the engine for Version 1.0 supporting standard rules fits into roughly 1000 lines of Java code. Whether a game system or cell phone, the Automatic Puzzle Generator will work on extremely limited computers thanks to its extremely small size.
